Screenwriting Training Course

Plots make films watchable, interesting characters make them memorable.

When was the last time anyone came out of a cinema and said, ‘What a wonderful structure’? Screen Writing is about creating bold, original, stories and creating a narrative structure to support them. Structure is everything’.

All scripts need structure and narrative drive, they also need character.

When selling scripts, the most important element to be scrutinised are the characters. The big discussion of film and TV executives is always the same,''The characters need more development.''

There is no convenient formula for developing strong character: yes they need goals and obstacles, but they also need an inner life.

Character development is an ongoing process of looking outside the confines of your story to the real world, observing and digesting, and then returning to refine and deepen your characters.

Character and structure go hand in hand. They support each other. Strong characters attract strong actors, who in return attract finance. Screen Writing is a business.

The Screen Writing Masterclass covers all the essential information needed for new and established writers wanting to develop spec scripts for both film and television.
